Ok..sorry for being late. But as I said..every time I think I'm ready to post..something else happens that just leaves me stunned.
Anyway..to my post to 'countsy.'

At the end of January..My old BFF 'countsy' had a post to me on his bloggy. It was a post where he kind of apologized for the name calling that we experienced when going through our back and Forths. He said it was something he regretted. Ok. I took it for what it was. And I took it as sincere.

I gave my reply to it (February 5 post), where I accepted his regret as sincere, and that was that.

That said.....
I had at the time..wondered why he had decided to give up his 'political blog'. I just didn't understand the reasoning. I mean doesn't it stand to reason that you would want to keep it up (now that the dems have congress and the white house?) And have it as your sounding board? If nothing else to cockadoodledoo and boast your agenda?

Well of course!

So, why give it up? Why take it down when you have just about everything you could ever want?
I just couldn't understand it.
And I gotta say...I kept coming back to it. "why?"
Not that it HAUNTED me or anything..But..I guess I'm the kind of 'Handel' that likes a good puzzle, and unless I figure it out..It kinda tends to bug me a little.
So.."why give it up? Why would he not want to continue his political blog? It's not as if he has nothing to say, or is too shy to say it? So why?"

And to do so effectively you have to hold to facts and truth.

So in order to DEFEND this administration...this congress...you would have to depend on the truth and not just bitching and whining. Not just emotion....but record and FACT. YOU are accountable.

My theory is...That the reason 'countsy' gave up his blog, is that he CAN'T defend the indefensible. That with just under 60 days into this administration, we have seen bungle after bungle, fumble after fumble, mistake after embarrassing mistake!
Incompetence, amateurish decisions, and an inability to be an effective leader. Who can't even get a cabinet together!
As I write this...The 'president' (small 'p') and his congress have given out to AIG TONS of money in an effort to ram things through (NOTE: ALL REPUBLICANS VOTED NO ON THIS) and GAVE AIG the bonuses that they (congress and barry obama) are now bitching about.

By a fraction of a point, the Dow ended above the crucial 7552.29 level at which the benchmark index settled in November for the first time since 2003. Muzzammil Hassan, 44, arrived at a police station in surburban Orchard Park, N.Y., on Thursday night to say his wife, Aasiya Hassan, 37, was dead.

Police found her body at the offices of Bridges TV, founded in 2004 by Muzzammil Hassan who was inspired by his wife's post-9/11 distress at hearing a radio report she thought portrayed Muslims negatively.

He was charged with second-degree murder. No weapon was found but "the investigation is ongoing," Orchard Park police said.

Aasiya Hassan recently filed for divorce, authorities said. According to Buffalo News reports, she obtained an order of protection on Feb. 6, barring her husband from their home in Orchard Park.

Under sharia law followed by Muslims, a woman can ask for a divorce, but only a man can grant the request, and he can refuse, according to a book on sharia published last month, Cruel and Usual Punishment, by Egyptian-born American author Nonie Darwish.

Under Islamic law, crimes such as apostasy (leaving Islam), adultery, theft or drinking alcohol are punishable by beheading, stoning, amputation of limbs or flogging, the book says.

Nobody at Bridges TV answered phones yesterday and the station's website declared it was "closed for maintenance."

Muzzammil Hassan arrived in the United States from Pakistan in 1979, news reports from 2004 say. They do not say whether his wife arrived with him.

He became a successful Buffalo banker. He has said that his wife was offended by a report she heard shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on the United States.

"She was seven months' pregnant," he told Reuters news Agency in 2004. "She didn't want her kids growing up in this environment."

In response, he founded Bridges TV partly with the stated aim of helping non-Muslims overcome negative images they might have of Muslims and Islam.

"I had no background in television," Muzzammil Hassan told Voice of America at the time.

He said his wife's comment was: `You have an MBA. Why don't you write a business plan?'"

He quit his bank job and launched Bridges TV as a news and lifestyle cable channel.""

Look it up for yourself. Google the govts for each of these cities and the states that they are in. Look to see who Governs these places. Look who the senators are. Look. Look who the mayors are. Look who the Legislature is. Look who the govornors are. And lastly..

look who the population is largly made up of.

Places like Michigan have sky rocketing unemployment. MICHIGAN, who touts the importance of UNIONS.....of which are only helping to kill jobs and send more and more people out of those cities and out of those states.

Obama's (man-child) own city and state..another union stronghold govorned entirelly by him and his party (democrats) is in total disary! Pathetically so.

So my question is: WHY? Why is this so? These should be (if you follow the logic that the 'democrat way' IS THE way to prosperity) the most THRIVING of cities and states. shouldn't they?

But.....then there is the reality. Democrats don't know what they are doing. And people suffer for a utopian IDEA, rather than a working and tested method.

In the end....while these moron democrats that govorn these states and cities are at fault, so to are the same dumbasses that vote them in only to whine and complain about it as they are packing their bags or losing their houses or packing their work belongings due to a pink slip on their desks.

It is they too who are responsible for much of their own woe's.

Will they learn? doubtfull. They are democrats after all.

Right after the inaugural, there was an outpouring from the left, of such joy and happiness.
I let them have it. Being the sporty sport that I am. Of course there were the snide little idiotic comments and I again...let it pass.
They were feeling their oats. Having their moment. Enjoying their day.

To be expected.

Many of those people were my friends of which I have many on the left. It is to be expected since I work in the arts and entertainment world. One of my friends Had a friend that pushed it just a little far...so I ever so gently piped in. Which led to a very heated (he was heated, I was calm) exchange, which had in the end my friend coming in and joining the fray.

He didn't like that I was saying that most (if not all) people that voted for obama did so out of a 'feeling'. They voted for a slogan rather than a record. Voting for a slogan or to just 'feel good' is the way a child would vote. No intelect behind it. No reason behind it.
Its a childs way of thinking. Which is the liberal way.
To 'FEEL good'.

The adult way, which is the way conservatives vote, is to do their research..Look at the record, Look at how that individual runs a state, or what their voting patterns are. How their state is actually DOING.
What they contributed to.
Again...a RECORD.

And since obama has NONE OF THAT..It leaves only the pure emotional side.
I mentioned that when he (my friend) asks for my advice on a project, he does so due to MY RESUME. MY EXPERIENCE. MY RECORD.
How much moreso should we do with choosing our President!
To do otherwise would be catastrophic.

Well that didn't go over very well with my friend. We are still palies but I can tell that he didn't like that..he said he would get back to me....and he has yet to do so.

I can only think that it might have something to do with watching obama FLOUNDER aimlessly in these two devestatingly inept examples of utter incompetance.

In the post election, obama (along with the press) boasted that it would be the most seamless transition in modern history!
Picking his cabinet way in advance!
Now we see that YES, the people were chosen in advance but TOTALLY without vetting!
WITHOUT VETTING!

We have seen many nominees get sidelined or dropped out entirelly.
Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle and now Hilda Solis have all had TAX EVASION problems.
Add to that Bill Richardson dropping out due to a pay-for-play federal grand jury investigation, and the dozen-plus lobbyists hired by Obama (who said that he "Hates Lobbyists".).

AND THIS IS JUST FOR HIS OWN CABINET!

Have you ever seen anything this ridiculous? This is supposed to be the easy thing.

Add to that this awful pork heavy SPENDING BILL ( falsly called a 'stimulous') which the public is just now opening thier sleepy eyes on...

Its a disaster.
Its an embarasment.
But it is, what it is...

Obama was heard the other day to say that he's 'exhausted'.
Reeeeeeeeeeeeally? After just a few weeks mr president? Exhausted?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Its been very VERY busy on my end.
First of all..I am bummed that you seemed to have forfeited your political blog. Especially since I didn't get a chance to respond to your last post.

SO! I will do my best to respond to at least what I REMEMBER from it.

First, let me say, that I do appreciate your apology. Seriously I do. Looksie..I don't mind the nastiness of the back and forth. I don't. The only thing I mind is the complaining that the other side is nasty while you feel free to slam away to your hearts content.

But still..I do appreciate your feelings of regret. Thanks for it.

You said that you "loathe" my take on this country and my views politically and on any other number of things. That's fine. I DON'T mind that. I feel the same about your views and outlooks and feelings on any number of issues as well.
But I am not bothered that you feel the want to let it all hang out. My problem if there WAS one is that (and this was the original issue) I felt you really did not want to have differing views expressed or put forth. Which obviously goes against the whole 'progressive and open minded' crap that is put forth by lefties.

Countsy...Believe it or not..I actually dig that you feel as deeply as you do. You are who you are and chances are, you've always had whatever beliefs that you do have. You are you.
And I can respect that.
Robo, is another thing all together. I wont go into that...as I think I've pretty much made my piece with that. It is what it is.

Matt taylor! You seem to be more than a little paranoid my friend. Probably one of those tinfoil hat wearing conspiracist.

Look my lil sister. I wish you nothing but all the love and luck in the world. I want you to succeed and do well. As well as ya CAN in a failing and floundering state like cali.
Live and be happy. We will continue to have wonderful back and fourths as we have in the past. And I will teach and educate you as I have in the past.

But again, please know...I speak just as freely as anyone else. In fact..I think I'm abit more controlled than most. If anyone...ANYONE wants to have at it with me, be it friend or....you, then they can say their piece. But they better be prepared for a response.

Getting into the spirit of things!

Hold onto your hats folks! It's going to be a bumpy ride!! A wonderful, glorious bumpy ride.
As I look at some of the folks that are being interviewed...Some people saying that they're soo glad now cuz they (and I quote) "won't have to worry bout' buying gas or paying the mortgage".
A Maryland state official saying that "It doesnt matter that Maryland is broke..now that obama is prez"..

Wow.

Its astonishing how idiotic things have gotten. Now don't get me wrong. I say this with a big ole smile on my face. What we have here is..
After you strip away the branding.
After you take away the bling bling..
After you take away the facade...
After the illusion....

What you have is...Jimmy Carter.

And so...America has given itself a self inflicted wound.
And I look at the states that have the most enthusiastic support for the man-child..
California.
New York.
Illinois.
Maryland.

What do all of these places have in common... All broke. All pathetically flatlining. All bankrupt.
And all run by dems.

Its my hope that obama would turn away from some of his silliness. Turn away from his carter influences..and would do great things.
Yet I doubt that he will. Dems are notorious for doing the same dumb things over and over and over again. My hope is that the country wont bleed itself too much due to this self inflicted wound.

As for me...I almost feel a little bad for obama. He has been put on such a pedastal, (partially of his own doing), that when the crash happens...which it almost certainly will (cuz no man can be ALL things to all men)...
The crash will be.....SPECTACULAR.

Well first off, let me wish you all a very, very, VERY happy new year. That's right.

Now some of you in the forums have been wondering where I've been. Why I haven't really been commenting on the goings on's.
Well...It isn't that there hasn't been much going on, because there most definitely has .

The answer is two fold.

1) I wanted to take a little time off, and smell the the roses. I just wanted to drop trou- and step out on the back porch , cup my testis with my left hand and raise a mug o' joe to the sky with my right-- and shout : "UP YOURS CANADA !"

Not because I hold any ill will towards our neighbors to the north. Nay. Ne'er has a land so 'almost a country' had so much to give and given so little, which is why I'm guessing that the left love it so. Because they can relate to that frame of mind.

No..I shout out my Canada reference soley to scare the neighbors. (What? Were you expecting a deep explanation? Screw it damn it, you relax your way, and I'll relax MY way.)

2) I also wanted to take a month or two and see what the next steps of the man-child known as obama would be.
You see, it makes no sense to attack him really on whats already been stated. That was just warning shots.
Now...NOW its time to sit back and see if we were correct in our warnings.

Its also a time to, in all fairness, to give him a chance to prove those warnings to be false.
To in essence, give him a chance. You know?...."Hope and change" and all that mutha jazz.
So...Lets give him a month or dos.
Lets see what he does in the run up to inauguration.
Lets see how he takes the mantle.

Cuz, lets face it..Its ALL ABOUT THE PRESIDENT ELECT after the elections, and no longer about "W".

So we've seen quite a bit as of yet, from the one who stood so high on the empty platform of "hope...and...change".

And I've got sompin to say about it.

Carlos Meglia

December 11, 1957 - August 15, 2008




This one was another hard one for me to take. I LOVE Carlos Meglia's work. I always have. He has that cartoony look mixed with overwhelming power and grace that just knocks me on my Assy. He was doing it long before anyone else was. Long before Ramos, Long before Art Adams, Long before Herrera...there was Meglia.

He is one of my very favorite artists.
My very favorite....
And it just kills me to know that hes just not there anymore. And to leave at the age of 50.
Heartbreak.

April 21, 1971 - June 27, 2008


Even though everyone had known for sometime that Michael had been battling cancer for the better part of 8 years. Its still shocked us all to hear of his passing.
This one really hit me hard...Michael yes, is a great comic book artist, But he really was one of the sweetest people that you could ever hope to meet.
When you hear of someone like him dying at such a young age..It really does make you think that maybe theres something too that billy joel tune:
"only the good die young. "

Dave Stevens, creator of the "ROCKETEER" and pin-up artist extrodinaire.
One of those ladies he loved to draw and inso doing helped propel her to new heights of popularity, to a whole new generation of adoring fans..was Bettie Page.

Dave was an incredible artist. He was 52.

One of the most visually stunning women I think I have ever seen. Losing her really does feel like losing a part of comic history. In large part due to the work of Dave Stevens, But she really is a unique person.
There are few people who can really captivate an audience. And she does it with such ease.
Not just because the pictures are sexy..there are lots of sexy women in the world. But she does it in a way that others cant..I guess its in part because in those pictures, there isn't (as much) of the slutty thing going on as more of a 'good girl innocence' to them.
Again..not a new idea....But no one did it like Betty Page. Maybe because when she did it, it wasn't contrived, but instead quite real.
No one has drawn in and BEEN drawn by more artists than this lady.

She is....the original.
